Some of my attempts..

Over the past year I have been busily turning my flat into the epitome of the strange old man on the block's domain of the weird..

A little cthulhu made in the style of a roman mercy hammer.
.
...and a cthulhu in a can(well cigar tube)
A whole cluster occult artifacts..

made the above as a pocket monster for the kids..didn't go down well..
Ritual dagger, favourite so far. This one has a steel bolt inside wrapped in foil as armature giving it some heft and the use of transparent fimo for the blade gives a nice toothy tranclucence.

tried to make the most of cracking clay.

 above...melty polystyrene.

 'nother pocket beasty.

Hint here..always copy doodles into your fake occult tome on the train..guaranteed conversation starter, primarily behind  your back;but in hushed tones.
below first proper polymer clay sculpts.

paint effects on cheapo box,not good on it's own;nice in context.

Ok,having had comments from allies have decided to disuade random viewers of blog from thinking all I do is burn polystyrene and paint it.will be posting images of polymerclay work, plus showing free or minimal cost props already made, just got to get some photos.ETA 12/2/13 eve.

Should i post the frackups?probly I will try to get some good photos of pre blog sculpts too.On the hunt now for cheap display boxes.still no finances for fake labelling of props although steel wool and vinegar mix for ageing paper nicely on the way,Should mention propnomicon,a blog that has provided much frustrating inspiration over the last year, when I figure out how to post them as a link will do so,till then you will just have to type it in you lazy buggers. It is worth it..really..not kidding.

Weeell, having learned that natural air drying clay does not like being a skin less than 5mm thick over polystyrene(more cracks than a new years lock-in at a dubliners pub)...
.....fellback to playing with eggs and fire, leaving us with these..
the first just hit with minor fire from a butane(not without adult supervision kiddies)torch the second skinned with clay painted red, drybrushed grey then white.the next brown, green.yellow ochre highlights much more appealing in real life, makes a good goblin/thing egg.

the nicest of the three but not really done justice by photo(sorry)bronzed, drybrushed black then given a glaze of  old oak wax stain for wood.this one...feels nice, looks kinda dusty like a meteorite but the pen torch induced dimpling is just a little too regular to be natural.Alien tech perhaps?
have build images and descriptions for each of these and tips on  framing them as props for games but din't want to over post myself .

Nother nice accident, the upper image is a polymer clay...er..doodle,the second the same skinned with clay, sculpted with a matchstick and paintbrush;then glazed again with liquid wax stain
The..doodle had been sitting around for months, now finally Azathoth's mad blind pipers have a pipe to serenade the roiling madness at the center of space and time.

next challenge...clay and polystyrene eggs.....not the flavour of a Mcmuffin but a sculpting challenge, cheap;quick and eerie props.any ideas, comment below.
terrible photos,my apologies, crappy camera;bad lighting. Will do as schoolteachers recommended and Try harder.

with a little set dressing and appropriate(or strangely innapropriate)labeling should make nice oddities.

Well,a couple of solitary nights huddled over cold clay under surprisingly ineffective energysaver 60 watt bulbs have engendered these...
Two starstones of Mnar,a late babylonian pottery seal featuring an eldar thing;a dagon cultist's carved glyph, two Pa^uat clay figures from egypt(one cthuloid, one nyarlothotepian),one small button sigil and a partridge in a pear...no..A small leng style sacrificial bowl. All for £7 plus a little acrylic,a little woodstain and potted plant soil.
